Diario Ti: Intel Corporation has announced that the Intel Atom platform, known to date with the code name “Oak Trail” is available and will be incorporated into devices from May and throughout 2011.
More than 35 hybrids and tablet designs – including those of Evolve III, Fujitsu Limited, Lenovo, Motion Computing, Razer and Viliv – are based on the platform “Oak Trail” and work with different operating systems.
Also, at the Intel Developer Forum in Beijing, the company will offer a preview of the Intel Atom platform for next-generation 32 nm, known at the moment with the code name “Cedar Trail.” This solution will help to create a new wave of netbooks, desktops and entry-level designs all-in-one without a fan, which will make them quieter and avoid overheating.
“The new Intel Atom platform ‘Oak Trail’ and ‘Cedar Trail’ upcoming release, are some examples of our commitment to deliver rich mobile experiences and personal in both tablet netbooks as well as provide architectural enhancements provide batteries of longer duration and increased performance, “said Doug Davis, vice president and general manager of Notebook and Tablet Group at Intel.
Based on 32nm process technology from Intel, the platform “Cedar Trail” next-generation enhancements will present graphics capabilities, among which include support for Blu-ray 2.0, a dedicated media engine and full 1080p playback additional options for digital display, for example, an HDMI and DisplayPort.
New features will include Intel Wireless Music technology, Intel Wireless Display, PC Synch and Fast Boot. Also, improvements in energy consumption and thermal design power (TDP) will enable fanless designs with longer battery life.
